Mama Maruccis Pasta - Maccheroni

Perhaps the most misunderstood of all Italian cuisine is pasta. Pasta is a small course right before the main meal. In Italy, if they make a pasta sauce with meat (for example), the meat is taken out and reserved on the side. The sauce is then mixed with the pasta and served. This pasta course is eaten first then the meat is served as the main. In America, we have changed this tradition by combining the two.

Easting pasta as its own course and as part of a multi-course meal is excellent because it allows your guests to get in one more taste of something unique. Therefore like all of our courses, this is a taste of pasta as opposed to an entire meal. It’s meant to make you want more as opposed to making you full.

At Mama Marucci’s we also serve the pasta al dente. From an Italian perspective, pasta is either undercooked, cooked, or overcooked; there is no other possibility. To some who are not used to eating pasta properly cooked it might seem a bit underdone. However, once you understand what al dente is, you’ll never go back to eating pasta the same way again.
