Born in Naples, Italy to honor queen Regina Margherita this pizza made its debut at Pizzeria Brandi which still exists today.
Though the ingredients may seem simple when properly combined they are sublime.
San Marzano tomatoes are crushed and spread on the crust. Then comes a dusting of Pecorino Romano and fresh mozzarella as well as a drizzling of Sicilian extra virgin olive oil.
The pizza is then baked and after it’s taken out of the oven we add fresh young basil and a dash of sea salt.
